Peplum.

I decided to try out the peplum trend during a day of errands. It creates a silhouette which is so simple but so chic… I’m in love!

SCHOOL’S OUT! Which means that for the first time in three years, I really have the time to read the books that I have been meaning to read for AGES. 1984 is a cult classic, and I’m really loving it at the moment - particularly the ways in which the descriptions of society are as relevant today as they were at the time of writing (post World War II).

The first thing I did after I handed in my dissertation was go to Waterstone’s to pick up a couple of books by Austen, Dostoevsky and so on. I also purchased the coffee table book Irreverent from Carine Roitfeld. Containing an array of interviews, personal photographs and images from her time at French Vogue, Irreverent perfectly displays Roitfeld’s great eye for fashion. She’s daring, she does the unpredictable and unexpected, and she’s not afraid to be provocative and controversial to push the boundaries of ‘fashion’ as a concept… So inspiring.

Four Steps To: Colour Blocking

As the days get longer and the sun peeks out from beneath the clouds more often, I’m slowly (but surely) breaking away from head-to-toe black and embracing bright colours for Spring. Colour blocking was a huge trend last year, but I think it’s a trend which will never really die out - we have June Ambrose (who does it oh so well!) to thank for that.

I’ve put together looks 1 and 3 for a bolder look, whereas looks 2 and 4 are a more subtle way to add a flash of colour without being too ‘out there’. I recently sported look 4 with a swipe of MAC’s Ruby Woo on a night out, and I’m looking forward to trying out the rest!
